It has come into my awareness, years late, that some of you have been offended by my use of the word “surly” in connection with this forum. I apologize. I didn’t mean that to offend. It is true that my perception, perhaps flawed, has been that there’s a bit more trouble on this forum than on the others, but I sincerely didn’t mean to hurt feelings.
Anyone who takes offence at being called surly clearly isn’t a real piper

I’ve noticed a dedicated streak of tenacity and rugged individualism amongst uilleann pipers over the years. Certainly the very nature of the instrument demands this from its players, and we can be a very strange lot sometimes.

I’m at a loss to put this more diplomatically…in theory everyone posting on this forum are adults or at least old enough to have some sense of other people. Maybe those without a sense of humor or those so volatile that they respond everything as a personal offense need more help than can be offered here?
