Anyone into Opera?

In that case I thought I’d just brighten your day a bit with this magnificent piece sung by the Swedish tenor Jussi Björling who lived between 1911 and 1960. I was reminded by this piece at our national day celebrations in Stockholm this year when it was preformed by Daniel Johansson. The title is “Till Havs” which translates “To Sea”

There you go. And you might as well grab yourself some single malt
whisky

Nice…

In my teens and twentys..I hated Opera with a vengeance..all those fat folk shouting their heads off about S.F.A.

Came my thirty’s.. I had a brainwave…O.K. I’ll give all this Opera shit another chance…the theory being that if a huge majority of intelligent people actually listen to this crap then there must be something to it.

So it’s xmas eve…honestly…and there was nothing on the TV…nothing…I’m with this woman who happened to be fond of a bit of Opera…

She informed me that Madam Butterfly was on BBC Three…live from Covent Garden…

Xmas Eve..and she wants to listen to Madam Fckuing Butterfly…

Since then I have developed a passion for Opera…

The woman is long gone…but I spend a lot of time listening to Opera…

Grows on ye…

goes down well with a drop of whisky…

That was nice Henke.

My wife and I have had season tickets to opera performances here in Indianapolis for several years. The opera hall is only a few blocks from our house, but my wife insists that we drive the car. I like Jussi Bjorling’s voice. I had a roommate in college who was crazy about him, and that was 1962. Indiana University was a great music school, and there were opera performances frequently throughout the school year. I took advantage of my opportunities.

There’s not an opera company where I live, but I used to watch Days of Our Lives when I was younger.

We use to have season tickets for Friday night preformances, I’m sure our snoring amused no one.
