Any connection between the tune Parting Of Friends and Tapps

I’m not sure I’ve spelled TAPPS correctly. It’s that military funeral bugle tribute. Maybe I even have the name wrong. Anyway, it sounds to me a lot like parts of the dirge The Parting Of Friends. Does anyone know if there is some connection?

Not that anyyone is aware of. TAPS was written by a Union General named Butterfield and/or hs brigade bugler in 1862. Here’s a full history of the call:

While either could, I suppose, have been familiar with The Parting of Friends, there’s no historical evidence that either used it in writing Taps.

Taps has always made me feel
creepy. Prefer ‘Brown Sugar.’
