Antique Rudall and Rose Flute on Donedeal

Hello Everyone, (and Thomas  )

I thought you might be interested to know about this flute on donedeal at the moment, see the following link;

https://www.donedeal.co.uk/brassandwind-for-sale/antique-blackwood-rudall-and-rose-concert-flute/12516009

The flute is a nine key, featuring an additional low B foot. It appears to be in good condition (although the head may have been pinned in the past?)

Steampacket, the seller says that the serial number can be provided on request.

I have no connection to the sale of this instrument.

Aye, well the seller doesn’t accept messaging so can’t request the serial number. 3,750 euros (£2,982 ) ($4,208) is a lot I think, unless you really want a nine key, considering the pinned head, and the dodgy Eb pad (a bagatelle I know). I’d make a on-line bid for the Rudall & Rose 2831 Lot 847 in the G&H auction today if I was after a Rudall & Rose. It looks like a very good one, clean, no cracks, may go for less than the estimate, depending on interest of course. The George Rudall, Lot 846 will probably go to a collector

Well… I happen to be the winner of the ebay auction for this flute some days ago:
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Antique-Rudall-Rose-African-Blackwood-9-keyed-Concert-Flute-/331863217549
I was suspicious, but I now know for sure why the seller has not responded to any of my messages after the auction.
And I have a message from ebay requesting me for paying… Argh!

Hello Carlos,

Sorry to hear about this unfortunate news. It looks like the seller has posted the ad on Donedeal after you won the auction on ebay.
Seemingly, this is the first transaction this seller has made on ebay, and possibly their inexperience has led to this outcome.
It might be a good idea to notify ebay Ireland about the subsequent new advert on Donedeal for goods you are supposed to have won.
Since reading about your experience, I am beginning to regret posting this thread on the forum, although if this thread has alerted you to the current situation, then hopefully some good will come of it.

I suspected all of this after the result of ebay and the lack of communication. Yes, I will contact ebay to try to cancel the auction…

Your post has been helpful. At least now I have certainty about the situation.

Actually, I think the circumstances make this posting particularly helpful. It’s good that you posted it, uni flute.

This all looks a complete mess, doesn’t it? It’s an extraordinary eBay winning bid there. :astonished:

Sorry to hear about your circumstances Carlos regarding E-bay I hope it gets sorted out and you don’t have to pay anything. 157 euros was a great price though, too good to be true.

I missed this flute before somehow even though it was up for 10 days on E-bay. I’ve included it now in the Rudall register as the serial number was included in the E-bay listing.

Thanks for the heads up Uni Flute and Mr. Gumby
