They do. The “left brain” is verbal, logical and runs in series (one step at a time); it also remembers better. The “right brain” is visual, intuitive and runs parallel (many lines of thought at once). While the terms “right brain” and “left brain” do not describe physical areas of the brain, they do serve as a convenient short hand for the two ways our brains work. Playing music by ear is a right brain activity. Memorizing lists is a left brain activity. I don’t know for sure, but I’d guess playing from dots is also right brain as it involves visual activity.
