The Cottars is a group of 4 amazingly talented children from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Two are the children of Alistair MacGillivray who wrote Song for the Mira. Between them they play guitar, piano, fiddle, whistle and bohran. They sing and stepdance. All with great aplomb. Fiona MacGillivray in particular has an amazing voice for a 12 year old.
They have their first CD called The Cottars, Made in Cape Breton. I highly recommend it just for the sheer joy of hearing such talented youngsters. Fiona’s singing of The Briar and the Rose alone is worth the price!
