Hi Cottars Fans
I already wrote my review of the Cottars, which I met for the first time at Milwaukee Fest, but here are a few other things that others might find interesting.
Allister McGillivary sent me this a couple of weeks ago regarding their performances at Tonder in Denmark:

out lately:
THE COTTARS have just landed in from the Tonder Festival in Denmark The
Cape Breton quartet earned standing ovations and encores during all their
Denmark shows, and had two large articles --with photos – written about
them by Danish papers, who referred to the band as “Celtic Music Wonder
Kids”.
Following a 45-min. performance by the internationally-famous
Riverdance troupe, “The Briar & The Rose” was performed at 12:45 on the
Sunday night as part of the finale of the Festival. The song got a rousing
standing ovation and an extended rhythmic applause, the Europeans’ way of
showing great appreciation.
While in the Denmark area, the families also visited Sweden,
Germany, and Amsterdam.
The band’ fall schedule looks like this:
a) a September US tour, including shows in Tennessee, New York,
Massachusetts, Indiana, Ohio & Kentucky.
b) an October Maritime tour, including shows in Glace Bay, Halifax (The
Cohn), Saint John, Moncton, Liverpool, Charlottetown, Summerside,
Fredericton, and Woodstock.
c) a November Japanese tour, including an appearance at the Canadian Embassy
in Tokyo.
d) a Western US tour, including shows in Utah, Nevada, and several dates in
California (Berkeley, Santa Cruz, Studio City, SJ Capistrano, etc.).
Also, in MACLEAN’S MAGAZINE September 8th issue, The Cottars have
been chosen as being among “the young Canadians to watch” in “The
Performers” category.
AND, this week there will be an announcement that The Cottars have
been nominated for 3 Nova Scotia Music Industry Awards too.

The biggest news is that they have been nominated for a Gemini Award too.
The attention that these kids are beginning to get is indeed just the beginning if I am any judge.
They are the most talented young group to come along in a long time, and
they are going to get much better, I just know it, though it is hard to see how they can improve on their enthusiasm and joy in playing the music.
You can see them next Friday in Bloomington, IN and next Saturday and Sunday at Cincy’s Irish Fest if you are in the heartland.
Great kids- Not at all on any ego trips, but loving every minute, like they are in DisneyWorld when they are on stage.
Don’t miss them if you get there when they come close to your area.
