Allen and Ross whistles

Probably missed something somewhere, but anyone come across these English-made whistles?

For that matter, haven’t come across the store before either…

Trisha

Looks like you’ve appointed yourself to take the road to West Yorskhire, else direct to the maker in Leeds, bring us back the whole scoop

Now at 185 £, it better be good–what, I can get a D from YLC for 185 euros, that’s 33% less…

Hey, I see they sell Acme whistles, too :stuck_out_tongue:

They do seem pricey for a never-heard-off. There are C&F-ers in the North East…hellooo…

 now edited to  now that Mack has become  , I think…

Try this link and then click on “Soprano D Whistles.”

Right, Jerry: this is the shop Trisha was alluding to. Which doesn’t tell us much about the Leeds maker.
Like, does he use Leed or Delrin plugs?

That’s called saying too much and too little.
Why don’t you make it a PM?

The windows look too long to play well.

I live very close (well, globally speaking) to this place. I will check them out and file a bit of a review for the Forum. I don’t expect that the shop owner or maker will mind very much if he/they is getting a plug on the net.

PS

Helloooo to U 2 Trisha. Sort of North East anyway.

They do.

It is hard to see the blade, though–I’m thinking from the pics that hte blade is fairly long and pretty steeply positioned, somewhat like a Susato.

Yeah, I think you must be right.

We await the results of Jetboy’s expedition with interest…

At £185.00 each they aint cheap :boggle:

  1. The whistles look fairly nice – but how many pretty/pretty awful whistles have we seen, eh?

  2. A google search turns up precisely one hit for “allen and ross” combined with “whistle” – and that is a completely unrelated article on child welfare.

  3. 185 pounds is a heck of a lot of cash for a completely unheard of maker unless those tuning slides, heads, and ferrules are gold instead of brass!

  4. It’s too bad Jessie’s WHOA has been cured or we could probably talk her into ordering three or four

John

Precisely…
