I just wondered if any of you want to help me pack my office and move out this weekend. I’ve only been in practice for 25 years, so I’ve not accumulated THAT much stuff.
Book your flight to Birmingham now. Lunch is on me.
Doggoneit. I read this post just after I bought my tickets to the Southeast Northern Kansas Porridge Festival and Polka Extravaganza, which is this weekend, too. I’ve been camping out for days to be first in line because Chalky Aftertaste and his Musical Poltroons are headlining this year, despite the concert promoters’ promise last yearthat Chalky would not be welcome at the festival again due to that unfortunate incident involving a some jelly, a lasso and an underage prairie dog.
Thanks, Cynth. You spared me from having to make up a bogus story about unexpected company from out of town, a flare of diverticulitis, and an airline strike.
Yeah. That’s gratitude for you. Go ahead: Let $500 for an airline ticket and your pansy fear of roaches the size of Snickers bars keep you from helping me. When my back goes out and I’m not around to moderate you people anymore, you’ll be sorry. And don’t think for a minute that Nanohedron, Joseph E. Smith, Alan, and rich are going to be around to save you from your own dark impulses. They’ll be here—my friends–and are going to help me move. I’m sure of it. I’m just waiting for them to answer my PMs.
Maybe you missed the part about me picking up lunch. At Denny’s.
Shoot. Like that’s gonna help. You think no one’s gonna figure out that Denny’s house is way too far from Birmingham for anyone to make it there for lunch? And have you even bothered to check with him? I’m betting he’s got plans for this weekend, too. Big plans.
PSST–Hint: In all the excitement you appear to have overlooked the sine qua non of moving-helper enticement: You forgot to mention the beer.
Oh lunch at Denny’s. Now that’s different! Let’s see. I qualify for the “Senior Menu (For our guests 55 and older)”. Okay, that’s exciting. Hmm, let’s see. I can have:
NEW Senior Grilled TilapiaA mild, white fish filet seasoned and grilled. Served with choice of two sides and dinner bread.
or Senior Roast Turkey & StuffingTwo slices of tender turkey breast with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Served with choice of two sides and dinner bread.
I wonder why that fish seems to look so much like that turkey? I’m not that fussy an eater but I’d be hard pressed to make a choice here. Boy, this is some seriously unappetizing food. I mean just look at these pictures! What could they be thinking? Dang! I’d just as soon put some roaches on a stick and deep fry 'em to tell you the truth.
I thought I’d better write and ask some celebrity chefs whether they think roach-on-a-stick is a good idea. I never got past the publicity people, though, so this was all I got back:
Rachael Ray says, “Tonight I’m going to show you how to make a delicious meal in 30 minutes: fresh local roaches lightly sautéed in a little EVOO, then tossed with veggies julienne, penne pasta and herbs. Yum-O!”
Emeril 's tip was, “I don’t know where you get your roaches, but where I get mine, they don’t come seasoned. BAM!”
You absolutely need the frontal lobotomy for that to take hold if you’re serious about this. I followed Bloo’s example in turn, and may I say it’s most liberating.
