Adam, Eve and T. Rex

here’s a whole bunch of shots at ya, jGilder:

Hahahahaha… cheers!

As others have pointed out, my topics are usually very controversial. I realize I am to the left of most members in this forum politically. These two points typically draw a strong reaction and the urge to kill the messenger is irresistible to many folks who might feel unequipped to engage in the debate with their own evidence and knowledge of the issues I raise. Others simply disagree and don’t think it’s necessary to know anything more than they already do about the subject to dismiss me. Then there are some who are so uncomfortable with the conclusions that are a result of the material presented that they will resort to name calling or some other form of personal insult unrelated to the subject. This succeeds in diverting the discussion to a person’s posting style, which is easier to debate.

I do mean what I say when I told you that this is a great place, but I’m hoping that everybody might step back for a moment and reflect on how the controversial material is received and handled. I would never call you or anyone else currently in the room a “troll,” and I hope that we can put name-calling and insult aside. I also hope that my posting style will cease to be a topic of any interest because it bores me to tears to be honest.

sorry to threadjack

Actually Jack, I’m not meaning to start a war but some of your strongest critics and most the people who’ve emailed and pm’d me ACTUALLY agree with your politics. It’s not your content but the way you word your posts and the overwhelming frequency of them.

But I’m not calling you names. I’m describing what you’re doing that people object to. Your comments in the above post are exactly what I’m talking about in the “smokescreen” statement I made. I don’t buy that you are bored with this kind of controversy, or you wouldn’t keep stirring it up.

But really. I was hoping you would give me the satisfaction of discovering that I am an especially clever and gifted troll. Sigh I’m a failure.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Nice try, Emm. I’ll give it another go…

Near Glen Rose, TX, is a place called Dinosaur Valley State Park, in which the tracks of dinosaurs can be seen in the limestone bed of the Paluxy River. Adjacent to the park is (or was; I haven’t been there in 10 years) a private “museum” which claims there are human tracks alongside some of the dino tracks. Look here for more info.

Wow! This makes three whole on-topic posts (including the original) in this thread!

In this statement your insinuation is clearly that I am a troll.

This was both incorrect and uncalled for.

This is an assumption. Actually I was making a joke based on my current frustration with the way some of you are responding to my posts and me personally here in this forum.

I would love to engage in your humor, but it was on the tail of a mischaracterization by you and herb of my humor, and referred to a recent very long thread where I was unfairly singled out.

Anyhow, it was a really BIG ark–plenty of room
for T rexes, brontosauruses, you name it.
Given the ark had to be huge to contain
all the critters around today, one might as well
suppose it was big enough for Dino too.

What did they eat, you ask?
Fish.

But the herbivores?
Well, I suppose NOah stocked a lot of
hay. Plenty of room to grow things
on a ship that big. Might as well take
the plants too.

Imagine a big ship with all the animals on it,
sailing along waiting for salvation, for the sun
to shine, or whatever. It’s a lovely idea, really.
I believe it and add one detail:
I figure the ship’s name is ‘Earth.’

Please note that I have refrained from posting a pretense of (1) innocence or (2) misunderstanding in order to get attention.

If anyone needs to work on how they word their posts, it’s you, Murphy, as evidenced in your current thread. I didn’t realize that there was a posting limit in this forum, care to direct me to where it’s posted?

Liberals misconstrue everything. I would stop trying to discourse with the likes of Jerry Freeman, Murphy Stout and Herbivore12. A rotten lot and a waste of keystrokes, IMO.

Best wishes,
Jerry

But Blackwood, do you ever post anything that’s not intended to cause a stir? Maybe Nano is joking, I don’t know but I do wonder if you live under a bridge.

Hm, I thought my intention was to inject news items I thought would be of interest and could form the basis of an interesting discussion…but maybe you have greater insight into my intentions then i do.

Regarding living under a bridge, i don’t as the Wifi reception is really poor, but is your comment intended to provide constructive insight or just intended to insult me? I will not presume to know your motivation as you appear to do with me, but maybe you could comment to clarify?

ON THE topic of roadside dinos…
there was reference in a thread a couple weeks back to
this: > http://www.answersingenesis.org/museum/ >
I had a look around the museum preview. Quite intriguing. It looks like a very well done museum in many technical ways if it doesn’t bother you that the resident dinosaurs insist they’re only 5000 (or so) years old.

Thank you emmline for trying to bring the thread back on topic..
I’m just fascinated how people are so fanatical in their belief that they have to twist all reasonable logic to make sure that the word of Bible is correct all the way. We had a discussion on Noah before on another thread and I was getting attacked quickly but not on the substance of the logic as I recall…

According to the museum I referenced, there were precisely 65
kinds of dinos. And Adam named them all. Not sure who taught him Greek.
Obviously, this naming occurred before Eve, who would have
simplified things by calling them “Grumpy,” “Toothsome,” “Squeaky,” and stuff like that.

Not sure who taught him Greek.

6,000 years and how many new languages/races/species since Noah? Or did he ensure the appropriate geographic distribution after he landed?
I love for someone to come out and explain how the Noah story holds any water (no pun intended) logistically.

Truly. If I’m ever in that part of Kentucky, I plan to visit just because the thinking that goes into this way of looking at things is intriguing.
edited because–all dinosaur jokes aside–if I phrase how my opinion differs from that of someone for whom this is a matter of dearly-held faith in a way that seems derisive, I’ve erred, in my own judgment.

Your joke wasn’t funny, and was poorly timed. It’s a good thing you’re a musician.

And you seem to think you’re left of most board members, on a board populated by musicians. Hoo boy. I agree with almost all of your political positions (except the fatuous ones), and I’m probably left of you, in that I not only agree with most of what you say (sorta), but I also hold “radical” views on animal rights and other “hot” topics. I’m certainly not annoyed by your positions.

Most of us just don’t feel the need to harangue everyone all the damned time with our views. Because that’s boring. Really. And we don’t respond to opposing views with wild-eyed disbelief, reaching for arguments that bolster our position while disregarding the opposing viewpoints. Becasue that is so uninteresting.

And we don’t veil insults at individual members, or the entire board, with silly little smileys or insincere protestations.

Murph, as much as sometimes I want to tell him to respect his elders, and lay back on the caffeine and sugar a bit, has the right of it this time. Whoah! Beware the long-haired ninja flute-player.

Hey Emm, ya got an other one in ya?
Does this place have an alley?

Yes, but I’m afraid it’s overrun with 5000 year old compsognathi.
All combattants would be eaten in small bites.

Emmline, have you ever read Mark Twain’s “Diary of Adam & Eve?” Absolutely hilarious (to my twisted mind, anyway). When Eve names the animals Adam is baffled by what she calls them…she says “It just looks like a buffalo.”

Someone borrowed my copy some years ago–I definitely need to get a new one!
