I’ve not really been interested in policing what people put in their signature lines–and am still not. However, please consider a couple of courtesies.
Some people have businesses that mention in the sig lines. The name of the biz, a link to it–that’s perfectly ok. But, don’t turn it into a full-blown commercial post.
Some people use their sig lines to provide a political message of the kind that would normally be confined to the Political/Controversial forum. I’ve done this myself. But, again, please don’t overuse and abuse that by making the kind of statement that might frustrate someone who feels unable to respond or counter.
but i just made this post in the rubber room in the ang atheist thread:
i really can’t keep track of who believes what anymore. in the interest of helping me out, could we possibly somehow below our avatars have small symbols that help identify our beliefs, like “gun nut,” “ill-informed republican,” “foreigner-english as a second or lesser language” “naive psuedo-intellectual” “messed up former believer” “totally nice all around person” and “ambigous sexuality.” i think this would help bring more effective communication. i’d be willing to moderate this.
pics/symbols would be easier especially for the newbies who are having enough trouble trying to read whistle tabulature and wondering why their whistle only squawks when they play it.

I found mine in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. It’s by some chap called Sir Francis Doyle and it accurately sums up what I’m like (or would like to be like) at our pub sessions.
You rock to such a degree that I will use standard punctuation and capitalization from here on out. Labels, the world needs more labels. This evening, I’ll update my own signature following your format, but just as a trial for the holidays.
