Abell 370: Galaxy Cluster Gravitational Lens

-I went to the roof tonight to eyeball the space station’s passage and stayed to show friends Jupiter and its moons through a small telescope. Perseus’ double cluster was another easy view, superb at 36X. -More than 100X was useless due to “seeing” distortion but it does clear up on occasion in Seattle to allow up to 240X, more on rare occasions. Perhaps a gravitational lens nearby would help the viewing but would play havoc with the tides.

-We met a UA astronomy student in the Arizona desert years back whom let us view his lunar research plot in good conditions. Watching rilles at 700X feels and is intrusive, spying in fact on unwitting selenites going about their business.

-As far as we can tell their business is mostly green cheese manufacture rather than creation of Italianate architecture & decor as depicted in the film “The Adventures Of Baron Von Munchausen”. -Likewise, there is no “King of the Moon”, only a petty official rewarded handsomely by the cheese lobby for keeping the Interplanetary Trade Commission’s focus away from the lucrative subsidies and liberal export rules which have always characterized the lunar cheese trade.

Have ya tried the far side of Blanca Lake?

-I haven’t been to Blanca Lake. Its sounds purty. I made a day hike to Gothic Peak & Foggy Lake below Del Campo long ago. It must be beautiful on clear nights up there.

disgustingly so…

too many stars…can’t find anything
very limited horizon also
