Mebbe it’s just my bad Net knowledge, but I can’t find a website of Sindt whistles. Also, the only email I have found is several years old and is of the “aol” persuasion, which many, many folks abandon. I am on the brink of ordering a whistle. Can any of you verify his most recent email addy, if there is no website?
The last address I reached him at was:
He is generally pretty quick to respond.
Thanks. I shoulda just tried it… ![]()

A Sindt-website would be great. I cannot find Sindts in any (internet)store. I got lucky to buy one second-hand. It’s just…it’s beautiful! At first its sound reminds you of a Generation, but while playing, one notices a very much more pure (and less chiffy) sound, especially in the second octave. The bell-note is very clear. The whistle is so much in tune and needs some backpressure, not much, but enough to lean into it. This makes it very comfortable to play. Also the mouthpiece feels very comfortable. I thought it had not so much volume, but my environment (fellow-musicians) did not agree. I read it’s being played by Joannie Madden now. Is there a review on the Sindt somewhere?
Yep that’s his address. I got a reply after about a week. Mr John Sindt said he goes by word of mouth and doesn’t have a website.
Yeah, I’m on the list! He is very quick to reply to the email address. And I don’t blame him for not spending the moolah for a website, it’s just become so usual to have one for just about anything anybody does.
One fact that’s word of mouth is that John S
makes a silver-tubed D whistle with a delrin
mouth piece that is extraordinarily good
and inexpensive.
There seems to be several makers with the same train of thought and probably couldn’t keep up with demand had they had a known website. Just out of curiousity, Weeks, what is the current leadtime for a Sindt whistle? One can only imagine what it would be if there was a website involved.
4 months and I ordered the silver one because of what Stony said earlier (in another thread).
I was just quoted 4 months for an Eb! Let me tell you, he is very prompt on delivery too.
He must be working his fingers to the bone. When I bought mine, the wait was 11 months.
