Well, it looks like my full set of Seth Gallagher pipes that I ordered a little over a year ago will not be coming home to live with me after all.
Due to monetary circumstances beyond my control, I won’t be able to afford the set when they come due. So here’s an offer to any interested party(s):
If you’d be interested in aquiring a full set of Seth’s pipes, in D with ALL the bells and whistles - ie: fully keyed chanter, wooden chanter top, chanter stop key, all three regs, bag covers, case, extra chanter reed, nickel silver plate, deluxe hard travel case, metal bellows hinge, etc. all I ask is that you send the initial $50.00 deposit he requires on his orders to me and I’ll transfer my spot on the list over to you.
If this isn’t of interest to anyone, that’s alright too, but I thought I’d throw out the offer, and hopefully save someone having to wait over a year for a new set of Seth’s. The set should be ready by early summer as per the last estimates.
Any interested parties, feel free to email me off list. The final cost I estimate to be just over $8,000 USD. Again, just a hopeful wish that someone else might be able to enjoy (afford) this beautiful set in my place)

early summer ? mabey we could get a collection plate going ,lets see , give it till june,till eviction , thats 6 months =24 weeks = 330 dollars per week , any hope there ? not to pry here ,but there are 1852 members in the forum , 1/4 of that at a penny per day , could do it in six mounths . hey brian there must be something you can do,remember its always going to be an investment.but saying that $8000 is a lot of money for an instrument,i myself am strugling to pay for mine.but mine are 2 months away,and i will just about aford them.but the way the prices are going it will be $10000 for a set of pipes.i feel sorry for younger people who want to play but cant afford it.they seem to be going up far to quick.the pipes are that hard to play and keep in tune,that they should pay you.but thats just me.
There is simply no way I can afford this set now or in the forseeable future. Sure it sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. I’ll live to order another set someday.
Funny thing when your car’s engine blows up (sorta anyway) and you’re about to be laid-off work, and your paychecks don’t even cover the cost of luxuries like food at present - kinda puts it all into perspective. LOL But I’ll survive…I always do - like it or no!
I was just hoping I might be able to save someone the wait for a full set, as opposed to just having to cancel the order outright. I need to call Seth on Monday and make sure he’s OK with the switch. (I don’t see why he wouldn’t be - otherwise he don’t get paid at all!)

Brian…I bet you could just let the order stand and let one of us complete the transaction with both you and Seth when the $$$$ is due. He should have no problem shipping them to another address, and what if you inherit an unexpected windfall in the meantime, and want to change your mind?
There’s a chance that if you cancel, Seth could charge any of us his new price which goes into effect Jan. 10 (a couple of days ago) and it might be substantially more. My 2cents worth…leave well enough alone. You won’t have a problem with probably several of us stepping in for you. Rest assured.

We all put in a part… shared ownership. Then we each get a chance to use the set, just like a timeshare condo. Put me down for June, July & August.
