FS: Place in the waiting list for a Half set Uilleann Pipes

The pipes are made by Andreas Rogge (Germany; www.uilleann-pipes.de) and will be finished in 2010.

Materials are Ebony, Brass, Boxwood.
Two chanter keys (Fnat, Cnat) and Chanter stop key
One spare reed for the chanter.

The order was placed in may 2005 and I payed 1200,- Euros in advance.
Total price is 2675,- Euros PLUS VAT and shipping cost.

I am sure you can change the order into a full set or change the materials by simply contacting Mr. Rogge.

Selling a Place in a waiting list
Why not simply quit the list and the guys behind you in the queue would be very happy since they could be shifted closer to their deadlines? For the maker, IMHO, it really does not matter: I assume that a reputable maker has at least five new full set orders every month. They could simply refund your money from the deposits of the new members in the queue. They have used your money for four years and you should be eligible to get a full refund for the waiting, minus some reasonable “handling” fee. You would be happier because of the simple process of quitting, the others in the queue behind you would be even happier and for the maker it really does not matter, as I just explained. I am nearly sure that they have not even thought about starting to make any part of your half set. In the case of the Rogge Workshop, however, this might be a bit different: recently, they are very fast in making chanters, and practice sets. Haven’t they already made the chanter for you?

If I were on this list, and suppose I placed my order only in 2008. Could I simply sell my place and buy yours, this way I could get a set in 2010 instead of 2013? Would your maker support this process? Could you find it for me?
Thank You, Miki

why not hold an auction for your place
I’ll start if off
Here is 50p

Hi Ged, I think you might be wearing my t-shirt :really:

Pat.

Pat, I thought it was you in the picture too. He looks evena bit similar, except for the chiseled features of course. :poke: Very wierd though. (Although I knew that wasn’t your illustrious set)… he he :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Lukas

I think you should contact Andreas or Jens about this first as it maybe to late to change.

In 2005 I took Skip Cleavinger place on the Rogge waiting list (Skip placed order in January 2004) I paid Skip the deposit he paid in January 2004.

Skip’s order was for a “C” 3/4 set in plumwood. I contacted Andreas and Jens in January 2005 and I was able to change the order to a full set in “D” wide bore without bellows/chanter and a “C” Plumwood 4 Keyed chanter. I received the set around November/December 2008.

This link below is about when skip was selling his Spot on Rogge Waiting List.

All the best

The total price for the half set ordered in 2005 is 2675 euros. It has 2 keys and a stop key. The same set ordered today would cost 3741 euros.

It might be a good saving for someone to take over Lukas’s order. However, Andreas should be contacted beforehand to make sure he’s happy to allow someone take over an order at the 2005 price.

Pat
Ok you can my t shirt for 50p.
Chiselled features - cheeky b+$%ard

I know that it is weird - selling a place in the waiting list. It was the idea of Jens, actually (Rogge’s assistant). As you can probably understand, the only reason why i do this is because i want my money back (that could be invested in keys or regulators…).

I have another set of pipes now and I had to wait 5 months only and since I am very satisfied I don’t need another set (rogge or not, i don’t care).

You’ll have to include VAT and shipping to the 2675 euros, then the final price would be above 3000. Maybe you’ll still save some money and waiting time, of course.

VAT is not charged if the buyer is outside the EU. However, depending on where the buyer lives, he/she might have to pay import duties and/or sales taxes.

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, a futures market in pipes!

I haven’t considered that, PJ, thanks.

I had heard of people doing this with Rolls Royce automobiles back in the 70s. It is fairly lucrative as I understand it. I never had the initial investment so I can’t elaborate.
