Ok, I just noticed that I am starting to get towards triple digits in my posts. Now, while this does not put me anywhere near the likes of Loren, et. al., it is a momentous occasion, as it will be the most I have participated on any forum other than newsgroups.
Now, the dilemma is do I keep to my usual scarcity of posting, only commenting on rich, fruitful topics, or do I start putting “fluff” out there? If I put fluff, does the 100 posts count? Kind of like that lady basketball player they let take free throws with a broken foot so she could break the points record.
You can do several things to drive up the numbers.
Pick someone to argue with and repeated post barbs back and fourth.
Start a thread about Andrea Corr’s attire.
Pick on a brand of whistle and complain about it. This works especially well if it is a high-end whistle. Say something like “My Feadog Mk II sounds better than any Overton.”
Post a suggestive topic like, “Only a sissy would drink Guiness.”
That should do it.

I haven’t posted in about a month, because I’ve been busy with putting together a course that I’ve never taught before. Not that anyone cares; I just wanted to push up the total number of my posts by at least one today.
So, are ya sayin that Loren is the King of Fluff? Your kung fu must be better than mine! I think I’ll leave the dojo now…
I tried a few weeks ago to abstain enough to fall out of the top 40, but that didnt last (much to the chagrin of many, I would imagine). Then I binged and Im up to, what, No. 32? Ouch.
As with anything, do what feels right. If these folks will put up with my ravings, then it will survive and perhaps thrive on whatever fluff you may contribute.

WEll, dude, lets see…you could say something harsh with no smiley, (their whistles smell of elderberries, you say?) some other people could react, I could come in with my usual “Lets all hold hands and sing Kumbaiya”, the situation will escalate when one or more whistle makers are implicated, others will chime in in defense, one or more of the Top 100 posters will get offended and flame out with a “Hasta La Vista Baby” post, Dale or Rich will chime in a few words of moderation and reason, most everyone then kisses and makes up, and I cap the whole thing off with another guacamole photo. In the process we’ll gain a few new recipes, some updated photos of Ms. Corr, perhaps a few of Nigella, some whistlesmiths will get more good press overall, and a few lurkers will be flushed to the surface, however briefly.

What the heck is up with the music industry? Big buisness is running art. What happened to TALENT? Brittny Spears? Common! Who buys that junk, her agent?
It’s like the Mafia is running it. Snoop Doggy? P. Diddy? Whazzup wit dat?
We muicians need to take the industry back! Are you with me?! Boycott the music industry! Burn your Michael Bolton CD’s. The time has come!
CD’s cost $18 for a $2 product. How much does the artist get? 5 cents.
Better yet, I could simply tell folks they really ought to run out and buy the Flook “Rubai” CD, along with Lunasa “Merry Sisters of Fate” and, if they really want to learn a thing or two about ornamentation, phrasing and rhythm (whether you play flute OR whistle), the Wooden Flute Obession CD.
Low whistle lovers also need Brendan Ring’s “Troublesome Things”. Brendan, where can I get a poster of the Cover Art? I love that!!
And don’t forget Eoin Duignan, more great low whistle stuff.
Gotta plug Cormac Breatnach too, although he’s more of “High Whistle” sort of guy.
