A Better Generation

Hi there,
Just thought I’d pass along some info…
I always heard about “good” Generations but the one’s I wound up with were not “good”
(out of tune with themselves & really shrill 2nd octave)
I recently bought D and C Brass Gens and was really pleased about how great they both sounded (no tweaking needed) I was able to remove the heads (even the C) and they’re fully tunable and great sounding even in the 2nd octave. I just ordered a whole set of redtops!

Did I just get lucky, or is the QC getting better a Generation?
Anyone else?
Scott

The last several Gens I’ve bought were all quite good, no tweaking needed. I do think there may have been some positive changes in QC or perhaps in replacing worn out molds or trimmers in the manufactoring process.

I second James.

I’ve owned a Generation in every key and the only one which was unplayable was the C, which doesn’t matter because the Walton’s C is a super whistle. The Bb and D are heavenly.
