This year Zoukfest will, again, be held in Taos, NM. If you live in the Southwest and feel somewhat isolated from the tradition, this is an excellent opportunity to interact with others who share an interest in ITM. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
http://zoukfest.com/ provides the detailed information. If you can’t make the classes, sessions go on every night, and visitors are welcome to participate in them. Grey Larsen will be teaching flute/whistle. Fort Bergwin is a really nice facility.
I don’t know how or why (I don’t even want to touch a zouk for fear of catching something), but I think I am going to go. I had all sorts of plans for music fall through this summer, but somehow I missed this little gem. But thanks to your post, I was made aware of it, and it seems rather cool. I am hastily trying to get travel arrangements sorted out and registered. Also, as they have a 7:30 yoga for musicians class, I am not so hastily trying to get clearance from my Yoga instructor to see someone else… hell hath no fury like a jelous Yogi.
Anyway, I hope this all falls into place so I can get my one full attention to music week in this year.
