They’ve got these at Elderly Instruments, online, if
anybody is interested.
I can imagine cavemen discussing the best sort of stone to make wheels
from ,if they should ever be invented !
The virtues of wooden heads must come into (nearly ) the same era ?
andrew,
“Wooden Flute Obsession” is the title of a 2-CD compilation that has been announced to be sold out recently. Seems that Elderly still has some copies. I can only recommend to grab one.
Sonja
I’ll second that! WFO is a MUST have for anyone even remotely interested in wooden flutes.
Roo.
Received it from Elderly’s. Large quantities of
gorgeous flute music. Best
Info on the 2nd volume of “Wooden Flute Obsession” (discs 3 & 4) is at http://www.worldtrad.org/WFO2_CD2.htm , along with MP3 sound samples of the completed tracks (note: the samples are before compilation EQ, volume levels, and mastering).
Thanks for the comments.
BTW, you’re welcome to persuade flute players to contact me directly (kevin@worldtrad.org - yes I’m cool with a public email address in this forum) regarding participation in WFO3 (discs 5 & 6). I already have some tracks submitted, but I wouldn’t mind connecting with willing players, rather than feeling like I’m some sort of serial “stalker”. I just enjoy the flute, and appreciate the opportunity to promote the instrument.

Terrific service you’ve done. Reminds me
of one of these great translations or
collections in an academic field, that
defines the field for a decade or two.
I don’t know
him well enough to contact him, and I
hope you’ll stalk Chris Norman.
I would think that being included in
these CDs would by now be considered
something of an honor. Best
You’ll see he’s already on there, along with a sound sample. Nice guy (just like everyone had said) and a terrific player. I met him at his concert on the 6th in Pasadena.

Kevin, have you talked to Chris Layer in NYC about contributing a track to any of the WFO CDs? If not, I might be able to get hold of him and ask him to give you a holler. He’s a really good player. (He has a 6-key boxwood Olwell – oh man what a flute! Plays like warm butter!)
He has a couple of albums out that I could give you info for if you don’t already have them.

I know the name, but haven’t heard his playing. He’s welcome to call or email (my cell phone # is on the website at http://www.worldtrad.org . Submissions at this point are definitely for WFO3.
