Woo hoo! New whistle! ![]()
Granted, it’s only a MK III Feadog D, but I think I’m in love… ![]()
Chiffy… sweet tone… no multi-phonics… is in good tune… brass tube model so it can get that lovely well-used/well-worn look… sigh
And under $10!! ![]()

Congratulations…Hey who cares how much. One of my best is an old Waltons…
Isilwen, it doesn’t matter how much it cost or what make it is, it’s still a new whistle!!! ![]()

I got 3 of these whistles in a small craft shop in Beaminster, Dorset. I was so suprised to see them turning up out of context I had to buy them to be sure I wasn’t imagining things!
I really like Brass Feadogs, they are really good value, have a clear pure tone compared to Genetarions or Waltons, and tatty up nicely with use!
Martin, does “tatyy up” mean the great patina they take on? My very first Feadog is 9 years old and I love the way it looks now.

Yeah, I mean they look tatty after a bit of use, but that’s nice. I used to want my whistles to maintain their pristine looks, but I soon developed a pleasure in the patina - especially after seeing JessieK’s and Avanutria’s pics of their much played whistles.
Yes, the tarnish gives them a well-used and well-loved look… makes them look homey.
I like it when my metal whistles get tarnished.
One reason why I’m loathe to buy ones that are painted or made out of something not mettalic… lol.
