Wish me luck (OT)

My wife and I are going on a date (the first one by ourselves in a very long time). We’re not sure what we’re going to talk about, but figured that if all else fails we can talk about the children. Or whistles. One can always talk about whistles

Have a wonderful weekend,
Erik

Have fun on your date, Erik!

 Jessie

Whoo Hoo! Enjoy, Erik! Wow! No kids for a little bit! Now don’t fuss and worry about kids! That’s the whole trick!

Erik,
Dates with spouse are a great idea - especially when you have children. Speaking from experience though, try not to talk about the kids ( much as we adore our offspring,it is good to take a break from parental responsiblities once in a while and re-kindle the romance!)
Now the topic of whistles…that’s a different thing altogether! Have fun.
Sue

I’m back… and I noticed that it was entirely women that wished me well. I’m sure there’s an issue there  We did talk about whistles and we had a wonderful time.

We went to a place named ‘Die Kartofel’ - The Potato. It’s in a small medieval village and the restaurant was founded in the 1600’s (I believe they have changed management since then, however). They serve a hunk-'o-raw-meat on a heated rock upon which you cook it yourself and an incredible baked potato. A bit like fondu.

I’m stuffed! Thanks for humoring my off topic post, by the way

Good night,
Erik

Hey, I wished you luck. I hope you got lucky.

ErikT, that is so cool!

Erik,
I’m a vegetarian but I hope you and your date had a great time anyway…the baked potato sounds, well, incredible! Mike

A hunk o’ raw meat cooked on a rock? Am I to understand from the replies that this is an unusual method of cooking in other parts of the world?

Tom

p.s. Way to go, Erik! Glad you had fun.

Rock baking is pretty rare around here. It’s just not the bread and butter of the restaurant business.

And the potato was incredible. They used a homemade sourcream based herb sauce; I think there was more sauce on the plate than potato (and it was a big potato). Mike, you would have also like the garlic sauce stuffed mushrooms that they served as an appetizer. Let me know if you’re ever passing through Heidelberg and we’ll set you up!

I’ve done the hot rock thing. It was a lot of fun, though for us it wasn’t raw meat, but marinated veggies and shrimp.

Hey Erik, personal question (ignore if you’d like – I won’t be hurt!) just how long had it been since you took the wife on a date without the children? A cousin of mine just did the first date since giving birth, and she was a wreck leaving the baby with her mom.

Thanks Erik,if I’m ever over your way I’ll definately take you up on that.Tyghress,in a few weeks I’ll be enjoying the sun down under and I’ll throw an extra shrimp on the bar-b-Q for ya. Mike

Tyghress,

Our little boy is now 3 months old, but we left him with his grandma at around 3 weeks. We do go out a lot, but just hadn’t gone by ourselves for a while. We’d either go with another couple or take the chitlens.

This is our second child so we’re a little more used to it.

Erik
