My daughter and I already play Shepherd Hey. She plays her Concert C flute and I play an Overton Low G. We play this as a round but would like to find some more duets. Has anybody any suggestions please? ![]()
Gee, I sure hope you get an answer, I would really love to know too.
I bet people will say to get a Flute Duet book, and you just play along
in the same key as her.
You’ll have to make a recording so we all can it.

Here’s an arrangment that I wrote for C flute and G whistle. Following is the sheet music and an mp3 of a live performance (I’m playing a Dixon G).

Enjoy!
I love this piece of music. Thank you so much for posting. Can we just go away and play it?
Heck yeah! I know what a pain it is to find arrangements you like - that’s why I often find it quicker and easier to make your own! - (Kinda like making our own Valentines Day card - althought I do like the ones in Spanish at Walmart!). I’ve been threatening to publish a book with a bunch of these but it’ll be a while as I’m working on an album through the summer…
Uhh… but if you make any dough by playing it, throw some my way why don’tcha!
Best wishes…

One of the ladies in my whistle class found this great book of duets when she went on holidays. “Airs for Pairs” It is not just Airs though, it has all kinds of tunes, hornpipes, reels etc. It was not made for the whistle but many of the tunes can be adapted nicely for them. The only change we have had to make so far is for Low C notes. We change them for Low E’s and they fit perfectly in with the harmonies.
I looked them up on the net and it appears that they have more than one. Here is there web site address:

Enjoy!

If there were ever two instruments that sounded good together, it would have to be the C Flute and the G Whistle.
Just before last Christmas, we had dinner at work, and we played Christmas carols with exactly that combination and an acoustic guitar. If we do it again this year, I will probably want to record our playing (or one of our rehearsals) and post it here.
Very cool. I bet it would sound good with a C flute and a G bamboo flute as well. I can feel the ideas brewing..
I picked up a copy of The Piper’s Companion Duets and trios for Northumbrian Smallpipes and other imstruments Volume 1 by Derek Hobbs. This looks very useful so far. ![]()
