By whither,I mean where recording wise? I read an excellent interview with Sean, which someone on the whistle board(I think) had provided a link to last year, but unfortunately,I, for one, have heard very little of this,to my mind, peerless whistle player lately, apart from the ‘Bakerswell’ group album which was re-released last year. I believe that this recording actually dates from sometime in the 1980’s.
Does anyone know if Sean is in good health? Has he taken a musical vow of silence? It seems such a shame not to be able to hear more of his playing, apart from the old Chieftains albums and the ‘Tin whistles’ album done in the 70’s with Paddy Maloney and Peadar Mercer.
Several people have mentioned a love of his playing on the ‘Tinwhistle tunes’ forum.I wish that we could band together and pursuade Sean to come out of retirement (health etc. permitting of course!)
Any information greatly appreciated. ![]()
I think the interview you mentioned with Sean was on the Scoiltrad site. Sean is in very good health and still very active with Cumann na bPiobairi Uillean in Dublin and with the Willie Clancy Summer School every July. I had a few pints with him in Dublin about a month ago and he is in mighty form. I’m not sure if he plans any recording but if you sent an e-mail to the Pipers Club I’m sure they’d ask him for you.

Thanks for the information Conal, that’s champion news that Sean’s in fine fettle. I’m sure that there’s plenty of us on the board who would welcome any new material,if Sean could be tempted into a studio,or recorded ‘live session’ again. ![]()
