Whistlesmith Low D

I know there’s been a lot of questions about them. I going to get one off eBay today. I need something to play until I find out if I can get Shaw low D tweaked. Anyway, I’d be happy to say what I think and how I like it, but I don’t really know the right stuff to explain. I was wondering if there is someone out there who’s willing to give it real review to answer all the questions out there.

Dear Tucson,

Having owned a Dixon Low D, and now a Reviol Low D, and having purchased a WhistleSmith Low F several months ago, my comment would have to be related to its breathy sound. Although I enjoy playing it from time to time and think it a very good value, it has the most breathy, windy sound of any whistle I own. I suspect it has something to do with the circular hole that remains fairly thick when air passes through the windway.

I like the look and feel and am grateful to have one.
