Whistles in Christmas Gift Catalogs

I meant to ask this question earlier. Did anyone find any outrageously priced whistles in Christmas Gift Catalogs this year? While I was visiting my in-laws I looked through an uppity catalog full of things Irish and English and definitely overpriced but I saw no whistles.

I don’t think it was over priced, but I saw a whistle in the Creative Irish Gifts catalog that I couldn’t identify. It had a brass body and a green plastic head like a Walton’s or a Feadog, but the mouthpiece didn’t look like any of those two.

I think you’re right. Interesting that they (Creative Irish Gifts) take the little sticker off the head before they sell it.

This is of interest to me…I have a friend who has one of these and it sounds very good but we don’t know who made it? Maybe clare(David Le Bass)looks like a Clare and Clare whistle’s sound great. I sell them at http://www.tuxedomusic.com and as far as whistle prices going up is this…Clare whistle Co. had a price hike about two weeks ago they went up $1.40 USD per whistle…that is a lot, I think. I would expect all makers to jack up the prices this time of year. Edit: I have sent an email to The Clare Whistle Co. asking about the whistle in question.

It’s not a sticker! I sell Clare whistle’s and it is embossed into the Fripple…a clover. They are very good whistle’s but I can’t sell them that cheap… other than that; I do believe it’s a Clare whistle tho… To sell them at $9.00 USD they have to buy in the hundreds/large bulk

Mine looks exactly like the photo below, and as Will said, it’s a gold-colored paper sticker, not embossed. Says “The Clare Whistle D”, in green print with a shamrock. Peels right off.

Do you have a photo of one with the embossed logo?

Dunk it in really hot water…if its a sticker it will come off(I did this to 5 whistle’s). Mine didn’t! It looks like yours but I would not call that a sticker mine will not peel off…did the hot water trick to loosen up the fripple and the decal/label would not come off that’s why I say its embossed.
If yours did I stand corrected…
