Whistles in Bangkok

Hello everyone

Im an australian backpacking around south east asia and I lost my tin whistle I brought from home. Would anybody happen to know where I could find a new one in Bangkok? This city is so huge and has so many shops Iḿ sure there must be one somewhere, but I have no idea how to find it.
I dont know if ill be in any one place long enough to order one from online, so I think a shop is my only chance.
Iĺl also be heading down to kuala lumpur soon, if anyone knows of a shop there. Any brand or type or anything else is fine, it would just be nice to have something to play again.

A bit of a shot in the dark, but hopefully someone has this random information. It would make me a happy boy.

Thanks.

If you plan on returning to Bangkok before leaving for Kuala Lumpur, you could consider having a whistle shipped to you as Poste Restante.

A letter or parcel sent as Poste Restante lets the postal service know you want them to keep the item until you pick it up at the post office.

Here are two sites discussing Poste Restante in Bangkok.

Good luck!

Chiffboard member whamlyn is located in Kuala Lumpur. He might be able to direct you to a music shop that carries whistles. You can contact him via PM here:

Added: whamlyn PMs to say he’s had no luck finding a whistle shop in Malaysia.

There may be local folk whistles that will serve well. India was full of em.
When I visited Ireland, they were popular there.

I live in Chiang Mai. There are a couple of us with whistles up here. I might have an extra Generation D if you are desperate.

If you DO find some, let me know. I’ve never found anything, and the local woodwinds aren’t in the right key. There is a place in the Chiang Mai night bazzar that does have some sweet bamboo flutes. THAT would be worth picking up.
