I am not one who likes to draw too much attention to myself.
However:
Just wanted to share how the whistle has been a wonderful therapy for me.
I will keep this short. I am recovering from surgery. (nothing serious)
While I was in the hospital, they gave me a little gizmo to inhale into keep my lungs free and open. A clever little device that measures how deep you inhale.
And I got to take it home with me! It is so nice to take things back home when you get home from the hospital! Bed pan, puke pan, and wash tub. Woo Hoo… cost… around 7 thousand…
oopps… I strayed.
Well, I found this to be a boring therapy. So I played my whistle instead.
Ah, it was wonderful and great exersize for the lungs.
I think hospitals should start giving out whistles…
Glad you’re recuperating, Laura. I know what you mean about the freebies - I have two $5,000 drink mugs.
Hope to see you in the chat room sometime soon!
Susan
Not only did I have to go to the hospital but my computer did as well.
Needed a new hard drive installed.
I have been having troubles getting into chat. I have irc downloaded, however I forgot what to do next to get into chiffy… All I can remember is binky.
It changed, Laura. It’s blizzard.pobox.com (at least that’s what Lark tells me). If you can’t get it set up through mIRC, come in through the C&F chat and maybe we can walk you through it.
Susan
I’m really glad that the whistle’s helping you recover.
I was hit by a car a couple of years ago, while crossing the street (on foot). I broke both bones in my lower right leg in a very bad way, and I had to have surgery. After I came home from the hospital, I was a MESS. I couldn’t get up to go to the bathroom with myself, I was weak because the pain pills they gave me made me nauseous and not wanting to eat. And I was miserable. Playing my whistle really helped me get through that time.
Me thinks I’ve got it… Alas, it is too early for chatters.
So I will give it a go tonight.
Corinthia,
I can relate about the pain pills. Wow, they can really floor ya.
Did not realize that until I started weening myself off of them.
However, it is good to have an unclouded mind. And I think I play better that way as well. I mean with an unclouded mind.
Good to see you back here, my friend! I hope you’re feeling better. Whistle therapy has gotten me through a few bad times over the last year and a half. It is SO good for stress relief, even when you’re healthy.
My wife has a tendency towards panic attacks and depression. The PA’s are all but gone since we moved from a 200K population to a 2K population. The depression is still a struggle.
In an attempt to get us both on to something we both enjoy I got the idea of playing an instrument together again. Started with rec**d*r and have landed full tilt into Whistles and WhOA! I really love to see the gleam in her eye (been a long time) when she is playing her whistles and flute, especially when she is playing with me.
Imagine a hospital ward with 25 newby wheezing whistlers
I never realized what whistling would become for me. When my better half decides not to speak to me for a month or two, or when the children decide to all be teenagers at once, I use the whistle as a way of finding something to focus on. Not only is it therapy for the lungs but for the spirit as well. I have been whistling a gread deal lately.
