What’s the general consensus on “what” to carry your whistles in? I’ve got a 22.5" Low D and a couple soprano Ds…uh, “so far” of course. I’ve seen the whistle bags at tuffbaggs.com but they’re waaaay too short for a Low D.
I’d prefer a soft case but if a hard case is better suited, that’s fine. The Overton soft case is looking very tempting! Has anyone had any experience with them?
Thanks much!
Joe Krepps <-like the new avatar? Hee hee! I spend too much time in Photoshop and not enough time making $$ to buy more whistles.
i think colin’s whistle bag is perfect and very cool looking.
unless you play extremely fragile composites like myself. that’s why i use pvc pipes with screw caps, but we whistlers look weird enough as it is
here’s a topic on cases etc http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=13547&highlight=whistle+bag
I have a gig bag made by our own RockyMtnPiper, and it’s just perfect for my needs (not to mention totally cool looking…everyone who sees it comments on it!). I like it because I can easily carry several whistles in it, keep it on me, and have my hands free when I need them to be (it has a long strap that allows the bag to be carried baldric-style, and a couple of outside pockets that I can quickly drop a whistle into if I need my hands free). I also have one of those drumstick bags The Whistle Shop sells, which I use to keep some of my more delicate whistles in at home.
I have a beautiful green Tuffbag bag that’s 24" long with an outside zippered pocket that’s about 10" high by 9 1/2 inches wide. It’ll hold your whistles, high and low. It’s for sale for $15 + $3 shipping and if you don’t want it send it back and I"ll refund your money except for return shipping.
