Hi everybody!
I’m just starting to learn to play the tin whistle, fortunately I’ve found a really wonderful teacher, she has a lot of patience and experience. ![]()
But at the same time I’m learning how to make whistles too. For this I’ve no teacher but all of you guys who write on the web, forums and so. After a failed try with a copper tube, I’ve finally made a “decent” (at least from my actual point of view) low D whistle, made it from aluminium with a wooden fipple. I’m still making corrections and changes to it, maybe will post a few pics when I feel it’s finished (that’s if I don’t break it while working on it). ![]()
Anyway, this post is for, first of all, thank you all you guys who have shared your experiences in whistle-making, I’ve read a lot of posts here, and learned a lot. Of course I still need to try new things and get more on-hands experience by myself.
Secondly, since this is a really big forum I’ve not been able to read every post in here, so I thought it would be nice to make some kind of “whistle making rain” post, something to remember or refresh old posts which could be useful to whistle makers.
I’ll start with this really interesting topic that I found reading old posts. It’s about chamfered/non-chamfered holes.
