Although I desperately don’t want to be branded a nitpicker, I still cannot abstain from pointing out the typo that should read “Stabat Mater”.

I had a vocal coach who always said “Stab at mother, dirty Rosa.”

Then there were the guys in my high school choir’s rehearsals of Handel’s Messiah: “Oh, we like sheep! Oh, we like sheep …”

It had much the same burly spirit as Monty Python’s Lumberjack Song. Our poor, long-suffering director …
