My new baby grandaughter’s bottle drying rack makes a GREAT whistle drying rack/whistle stand. The plastic “posts” are tall enough to hold most of my whistles upright. I just discovered that and thought I’d pass that along.
hmmm…i may get outta buildin’ one afterall.
Check out a sewing shop ( or WalMart sewing dept) for a wooden thread holder. This is a freestanding rack with folding legs designed to hold spools of thread. I have two of them which I screw mounted to the walls of my shop to hold whistle parts during production. The current racks may be plastic instead of wood, but they will still be good whistle racks. Not great for larger whistles though
Cowtime, that’s a really cool idea! How big are these racks (dimensions), and how many whistles do they hold? My wife is starting to get annoyed at the number of loose whistles I have lying around because they don’t fit into the whistle roll she made me…

Steven,
The rack I have is 12" long X 8" wide. It will hold 16 whistles. The back of the base of the thing is about 3" tall at the back, the front is only 1" so all the water drains away from the base of the whistles down into a little trough and they are not sitting with the ends of the whistles in any water. The back 8 “prongs” are tall enough to hold up my low whistles, the front 8 prongs are shorter but easily hold up my Ds, C and Eb.
The other handy thing about this is that the “prongs” fold down so it can be stored in a drawer when not in use.
I found this in the grocery store, but have also seen it at other places like WalMart and baby shops. I’ve seen them for anywhere from $5 to $9.
