Have a great Low D and want to stay with the lows - just not sure which key I want next. Play with a group that plays a lot of D and G and some C and E flat . The group singers all sing low so they transpose a lot.
Thanks,
Jim

G,F,and a partly complete Eb.

D, F, G, A, Bb.
D, G, Bb. I got the G and Bb this month. The Bb seems to fit my hand the best. The low D is a stretch to seal the bell note, though with much practice I am getting more consistent with it. The low G wants to go into the upper register, but again it is brand new to me, so this will go away with practice. I play mostly original material solo.
C, D, E, F, and G. I don’t play the C at all, don’t play the F much. The C is just too unwieldy, and F isn’t a key I care for (nor is Eflat, which is why I don’t even own a low Eflat).
A, G, F, D, Q#
A, G, FF, DD
G seems to be the next most popular key after low D. -I play each key as though it’s just a d whistle so the music is accordingly lower but I’m ignoring the fact that I’m actually playing different notes than the music calls for. I think Alisdar Frazier plays viola this way as do other some other ‘viola fiddlers.’ -Actually the relationship between the D whistle and the violin corresponds to that of the low G whistle and the viola. So if I play a whistle tune on a G whistle (as if it’s just a d whistle) I can pick up a viola and do the same thing with that tune on that and it will fit the G whistle.

D, F, G, A, Bb
Low F is my absolute favourite for solo playing and G is really useful for playing with guitarists.
D, Eb, E, F, G. All quite useful at times, with the Eb seeing the least use thus far.
Eb sounds weird.
Low C I got this whistle to play songs in the Key of D with my wife on her Bb Clarinet.
Low D My first whistle and the standard, certainly for obvious reasons.
Low F, Low G
Low A Second major key is D.
thanks for all of the replies … think I will be looking at a Low G next .. know what I want .. will probably have to try and sell my high whistles to get it.
Thanks again,
Jim
Bb, C, D, F, G
Bb, C, D, F, G
Going down:
Bb, A, G, F, Eb, D, C.
I’ll definitely be getting an E sometime soon and I’m looking at C#, F# and Ab as well. I want to be able to play in each of those keys but I might be able to make do with just a three hole start for some keys.
Wombat, do you consider the standard Bb already as a low key?
lowG&lowD
Not really, Amar. I just noticed other people include it and assumed they didn’t mean very low Bb. I suppose Bb and A are on the cusp. I’m not even sure I’d consider an A a low whistle but there seems to be agreement here that it is so in it goes.
ok, then i will list mine too. ![]()
starting high, going low:
B(no-name), Bb, A, G, F, D, C, Bb
guess a lowEb is missing here..
