I recently recorded a tune which I found with the name “TH_slowair”.
I’m wondering if anyone know the real name of this tune? I suspect that it’s one of Tony Hinnigan’s tunes.
Can you tell me where you found the original recording? And how long have you been playing to sound like that?
Lament for Staker Wallace

Thank you very much for that Mr. Gumby! ![]()
Mike: I’ve been playing low whistle for maybe 3 years and tin whistle for about 5. But then I’ve played some recorder and flute when I was young (or maybe I should say younger, I’m only 17 now).
I think I might have found the recording on Grooveshark.
Wow! You sound good. I’ve only been playing low whistle nine months so I’ve a bit to go before I might sound like that. And at 57, I started late. Keep it up. You’ve got great potential.
I knew you could get the name of the tune here. Beautiful slow air. And, welcome to C&F
Thank you very much!!
But I’m sure you’ll soon be as good as me or even better!
I really hope I’ll be able to afford a trip to Ireland next summer. It really seems like a beautiful country and it would be amazing to get to meet some musicians there and maybe even play with some.
Because here in the northern parts of Sweden it isn’t really easy to find others who are into Irish music.
Thank you once again ![]()
