What is this Low D whistle?

I bought this whistle a couple of years ago. I thought that it was just a whistle but bigger. I was wrong

Please look at the pictures and let me know what brand/make and/or model this is. I cannot find any other markings for maker or serial number. Only stamp is ‘D’ on the bottom.

Thanks!

That, I believe is a Chieftain OS (old style) low D, as it looks exactly like mine, including the D stamp. They were not marked otherwise. They were made by Phil Hardy and his company, Kerrywhistle Ltd. There have been a few models since that one was made, and since discontinued.

How do I assess the value? I am selling this whistle and a practice set of UP and I don’t know if I should sell separately or together.

Thank you for all your help!

Matthew

About 4 years ago I bought a low d just like the the one in your pics for $85.00 U.S.
Then I sold it , then I bought it back, then I sold it.
I miss it.

You sure that wasn’t one of those Oz whistles?

Nah, it’s definitely a Pennsylvania whistle-we’ve been sending it back and forth for a while now,

So, Jim, you gettin’ the itch again? I guess I could be pursuaded to let it come back and stay with you for a while, if you are hankering for a low D!

Let me know and we’ll get in on the road…again!

I’m with Barry. Looks like an old Chieftain to me.

I usually sell them for $99-$145 depending on how purty they are.

Hi Barry,
That is very generous of you. The budget is tight right now but perhaps if the offer stands sometime in the not too distant future I’ll try to talk you into letting it go. I’m glad you still have it, it is a great whistle,
Jim
