Hi!
I am a novice who wants to eventually get good on a low D. I have fooled around with whistles for a couple of years. I don’t have a whistle teacher available to me now, and I don’t seem to learn well with books and CDs. I think that SEEING someone play would help me more.
Any recommendations?

I don’t have any DVD recommendations, but Sean Cunningham has several very nice video tutorials on his website.
Have you tried Grey Larson’s “The Tin Whistle Toolbox” with CDs? His teaching is so simple, with plentiful exercises and CDs to check yourself with–I don’t see how one could lose!
Lee Mcullough’s “Learn to Play Irish Tinwhistle” DVD is pretty good. He explains things well and it’s well filmed and coordinated to show what he’s talking about. Very good for learning the fundamentals.

It’s great to learn by example from Seamus Egan and Brian Finnegan. The videos are of good quality and both cover some nice tunes.
