This has appeared on the new DS website - how has something this unusual escaped everyones attention for so long. Well done Davy for searching this out and sharing your photos with us.
You mention the chanter is missing - has it been stolen
Are you certain it is a bagpipe and not a disguised enigma machine - definately some morse code type keys there.
The set is part of the Bowes collection in Durham, Chris Bayley told me about this one, so Makoto and I went to view her.
The chanter was somewhere else in the museum, we do have pictures of it though, looks a little like a Coyne, I will try and find it and post a picture.
Come on Kevin. If the combined length of the bores frustrates the power of your snort and the coke disappears, you just shake it out and use the tenner.
But can anyone give some real information about this set? Mainly who made it, when it was made, what exactly IS it (uilleann, northumbrian, french abomination, etc.), and what the two vestigial ‘regs’ are? I am intrigued (as usual )
And Davy, when will you be taking orders for this configuration?
