Wedding Dress--divorce forces sale. Only worn twice

Not my wife’s, silly!

With 142 bids, it’s already up to $25,100! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63851&item=4146756343&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

“I found my ex-wife’s wedding dress in the attic when I moved. She took the $4000 engagement ring but left the dress. I was actually going to have a dress burning party when the divorce became final, but my sister talked me out of it. She said, “That’s such a gorgeous dress. Some lucky girl would be glad to have it. You should sell it on EBay. At least get something back for it.” So, this is what I’m doing. I’m selling it hoping to get enough money for maybe a couple of Mariners tickets and some beer.”

:astonished:
Great find…

Can’t people with $25,000 to burn find anything better to waste their money on?

That hugh X-Wing(Star Wars) from that toystore (can’t remember which one) that was on there a month or two ago…now THAT I might throw money away for.

The counter jumps 200+ hits every time I hit reload…

Hilarious, but after all is said and done I think I’d rather bid on the dryer lint…

Only worn TWICE?

No wonder she left it behind - the darned thing is downright UNLUCKY!!!

Smart girl - she took the ring, left behind the wedding dress and the beer-swilling baseball (well, Mariners, anyway) fan.

The price is dropping. Down to $15,300 with 130 bids.
But, the hit counter is still going ballastic!
It’s moved more than 300,000 hits in less than an hour.
It appears the seller is disqualifying many of these bids.
6 hours left

Seconds ago, I just watched an interview with this guy, Larry Star, on NBC. The guy is a computer geek by day and a musician by night. And, a real comedian. He had the NBC anchor crew in stitches. He said the price went up to a million yesterday, but eBay officals said this was bogus and did something to make it more realistic–not sure what–and lowered it to $17,100 yesterday.

Tony, with 5 hrs. left, maybe people are bidding high as a joke, then withdrawing their bids. I now see eBay has added a qualification:

“Note: This listing is restricted to pre-approved bidders or buyers only”

I just tried hitting reload and within just a few seconds the counter jumped from 3,618,457 to 3,626,345 for a difference of 7,888. I think every time someone hits the refresh button, it adds one to the counter.

I was gone for about 15 minutes and the counter increased by 206,957!

Chuck…didn’t you look at the picture? Worn twice…once by bride, once by seller!

Does the guy happen to sing “She-bangs” too??

Less than 25 minutes remaining…
Priced dropped to $6,350, 114 bids, 135 retractions/cancellations, the hit counter is over 5,603,000. That’s more than 250 hits every 3 seconds.

Start time: Apr-23-04 15:37:01 PDT
History: 113 bids (US $1.00 starting bid)
Winning bidder: absolutsth

I thought the naval fuzz was a more useful find.

How about this comment on an email he received:

One email was from Scotland. It’s a good thing he wrote it because I wouldn’t be able to understand a word he said. Never did get through Braveheart.

:astonished:

Looks like it was a real bid, too. absolututsth has a feedback of 80 or something like that so it’s not a throwaway account. Of course, it could be a hijacked account. Though come to think of it I doubt that anyone who’s hijacking accounts is going to waste them on fun stuff – they’re going to be going after somebody’s money.

Some folks and their money…

Well, all this guy asked for was enough for a ball game and a beer or three - looks like he can get season tickets and a couple of years’ ration of beer

Stacey!

I heard somewhere that the bidders were a bunch of divorced men showing support for the poor guy. I wonder if absolutsth was one of them.

Can you imagine what the next auction will be like, now that divorced women have caught on to this little game? It’s got to be a good story though, old wedding rings are on ebay all the time.

I remember last year people were selling dates on ebay. The woman who started it was from the same town as this guy…Seattle. I wonder if it was his wife. :boggle:

Over 10 million hits now…

Amazing so many people are still looking at the auction. It must have really hit a nerve. I’ve never tried linking a counter before, so this is just an experiment. EBay should be able to handle the extra load!

It just jumped about 40,000 between the time I wrote this and previewed it! I think it was 10,240,077 when I started.

Dang, it is going up 10’s of thousands EACH refresh!!! Amazing. You think this guy will wind up on one of the dating/regular joe type TV shows?
