Waves off Doolin, a sundayafternoonwalk, pics by Peter Laban

Not letting you in the pool then!

I also miss my long gone typing skills… mIss…

Steve,
Being a die-hard kayaker, I thought it was the kayaker that made the shot.
All great pictures, thanks.

If I may be so bold, seeing Peter’s pictures reminded me of my own of the same location. The rock formations were so striking, I had to capture them (and now, I have to share, if you don’t mind).

The weather wasn’t as spectacular on the day I took my photos, but I tried to capture the grandeur of the location anyway …

Not actually quite the same location, you were at the pier/parking area behind the shipping offices (used as location for the shop in Fr Ted by the way). We were north of there, where the cliffs are and the little bay with the blowholes and the stormbeach where the waves come in and throw the rocks inland. You can see the different position relative to the island opposite the pier in this one:

Grykes-a-hootie!

Sure thang, Clint!

I love these pictures. For someone like myself, who will probably never see them in actuality, they are wonderful. I too am glad for those rock walls and buildings to put perspective on the crashing waves- I can’t even imagine what that must be like.

Like Tommy Martin’s recent ā€˜if a crann falls in the woods and there’s no piper to hear it..’ that one leaves me wondering over how many heads that went. Not Steve’s ofcourse.

Heh. It went whooshing like sea-spray over my head, for one; but I’m glad of it, because that forced me to look it up. I was fascinated by the structure of the rocks in the photosand now, all is clear. There’s another mystery spoiled; but at least I get the joke.

If you enjoy these pics, you will probably like the stuff here

Clicked onto the map and navigated westward to Fanore, which brought back recollections of an appalling vista. How much longer before they start building an out-of-town mall there? :frowning:

That is a spectacular website! Informative, lovely design, lovely photogs …

It really brought me back – and really made me want to go back!

I actually sent an email to them commending them on the site, and I never do stuff like that.

Thanks for the link!

Peter, Dub, and others–wonderful. Thank you.

Peter, that very first picture is absolutely stunning. I’d love to make a poster of it if I knew how.

I’m about to try to post some pictures of the Tetons I took last weekend–consider them my humble attempt to return the favor.

Great pic everyone.

Thanks for sharing.
