If I may be so bold, seeing Peterās pictures reminded me of my own of the same location. The rock formations were so striking, I had to capture them (and now, I have to share, if you donāt mind).
The weather wasnāt as spectacular on the day I took my photos, but I tried to capture the grandeur of the location anyway ā¦
Not actually quite the same location, you were at the pier/parking area behind the shipping offices (used as location for the shop in Fr Ted by the way). We were north of there, where the cliffs are and the little bay with the blowholes and the stormbeach where the waves come in and throw the rocks inland. You can see the different position relative to the island opposite the pier in this one:
I love these pictures. For someone like myself, who will probably never see them in actuality, they are wonderful. I too am glad for those rock walls and buildings to put perspective on the crashing waves- I canāt even imagine what that must be like.
Like Tommy Martinās recent āif a crann falls in the woods and thereās no piper to hear it..ā that one leaves me wondering over how many heads that went. Not Steveās ofcourse.
Heh. It went whooshing like sea-spray over my head, for one; but Iām glad of it, because that forced me to look it up. I was fascinated by the structure of the rocks in the photosand now, all is clear. Thereās another mystery spoiled; but at least I get the joke.
Clicked onto the map and navigated westward to Fanore, which brought back recollections of an appalling vista. How much longer before they start building an out-of-town mall there?
