I am looking for a used bag and bellows for as inexpensive as possible. It doesnt need to be anything extraordinary, just something useable. I am getting a chanter soon for my starter set, a very good one, and i thought id try to save myself some money and find a inexpessive bag and bellows. I am looking to spend $200 or less
Seth Gallagher offers what are considered to be one of the best uilleann piping bags available (from L&M) for about $125 if I remember correctly. Any decent bellows will set you back something in the range of $300-$500 in many cases. This is something like buying a BMW and then asking to have a Yugo engine in it. You’re not doing yourself any favors in looking for parts based on cost alone. Pipes are expensive there’s no question - but you’ll frustrate yourself right out of the game altogether if you end up with crap parts.
David Daye has a bellows kit for $149.00 and a vinyl bag kit for $63.00, plus shipping. I got both of these with my penny chanter kit several years ago and they both work well. A leather bag kit sells for $132.00. The kits require some assembly, but it is not difficult. This might be your best option to get something functional in the price range you are considering.
