Got a spare bellows??

In my ongoing quest for a practice set of pipes, my pipe mentor has proposed that if I can come up with a workable bellows, he will loan me a bag and chanter to get going with. Then if I take to it fine, it will be clearer how much money I should be putting into a set, etc. So- does anyone have an extra bellows in good working order they would wish to sell? Or even rent?

Welcome aboard ! I am glad to hear that you have a teacher to help you with this journey…

Try this web site to get a good working bellows that is fairly cheap and well made ! Usually David Daye has a very short waiting time for something like bellows.

Good luck !

Yes- I’ve looked at Davey Daye’s page and those bellows were at the top of my list if there wasn’t a spare one floating around somewhere for a fair price. He has a kit as well as finished ones- the kit looks simple enough-do you know anyone who has done that with one of his?

I couldn’t be happier with my Simon Hope Bellows. I highly recommend them. They’re only at about $200. A super deal. Mine is a smallpipe bellows, but I’ve used it to power a full set with no problem at all. They are not small at all.

I have a spare Brad Angus set that I’ll let go really cheap. Send me a PM if interested.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has responded both to this post and the first one looking for a set. I got a lot of help both on and off the list and I really appreciate it.

Looks like I will have a local loaner set for a few weeks, to be followed by the bellows that someone on C&F is getting fixed and will send, combined with my pipe mentor’s chanter and bag for a bit. Then I will have a better idea if playing these is going to be a good fit or not- and if so, what I am looking for in terms of a set. Thanks again all-
