Virus/firewall advice wanted, & please send spam to here

My ebay account was hacked recently  Nothing major, no transactions and ebay is aware of the problem, but someone got hold of my password and sent a lot of spam under my name.

The messages were complete spam, instructing people to part with their money in foolish ways. The hacker failed to disable the ā€œemail me a copy of this messageā€ option in some cases, which is how I discovered his actions. An example of the sent messages:

The ā€˜message will not be received’ cos the blighter was using MY account to send it. Since the person/people involved clearly want to receive lots of mail, I want to help them in their goals. Please sign up the following email addresses for as much spam as you can think of.

g1rexim@yahoo.com (Sent at least four messages in English and two in French)
DOITFACE@yahoo.com (Sent at least five messages, all in English)

I also received two similar messages from the ebay ID Bargainsafe, and I am not sure whether he is another spammer or another victim.

Ebay sent me a list of ways that a spammer could have gotten my password, and the most likely candidate is a software virus that records keystrokes. This worries me greatly, so I want to get some good virus protection and firewall software. I use both dial-up and broadband internet access, and run WinXP on a laptop with a 1.4 GB processor.

I get to spend this weekend checking all my accounts and changing all my passwords. Joy. I wonder how many I will forget and lock myself out of.

Any suggestions on quality security software? Price is not a major consideration at the moment.

I use Zone Alarm from www.zonelabs.com as a firewall, this software is free in its basic version.

I use NOD32 from eset www.nod32.com as antivirus software. This is not free, but very good and fast on a Windows XP machine.
