video and sound recording for flutes?

Having just put up some you tube clips and having used my Sony ‘Cyber-Shot’ camera, I’m wondering what others use to record their video clips. I know the sound varies a lot from video to video, but some definitely sound better than others.

p.s. See what I am talking about in the clips below.

I use my Canon Powershot S3 for video. Sometimes, I feel like the sound is better on the video file than on my expensive Zoom recorder.

Nice playing, Arbo. I like the video, especially the plant in the background that kind of corresponds well with the hair.
Nicely done.

Sorry Arbo I can’t comment on video recording but just wanted to say I enjoyed the playing especially the 1st Day of Jan and the two hornpipes. Great tone. Is it a modern head on the Hudson Pratten, it doesn’t seem to be pulled far, 5 or 8 mm.Superstar hair.

Thanks Kevin.
I have some time this weekend so I am trying to experiment a little with the you tube thing. The HP has the original hj. I am just playing it pushed in somewhat. I suppose I am “wwaaaAAAAYYYYYYYY” sharp of A440… since it’s just me, I can play it how I feel. I have been pushing the sound a lot in these videos, so in general, I believe them to be on the ‘harsh’ side.

I don’t know enough about recording to comment on the quality vs. some other method but the playing was very nice. The tone was wonderful. Thanks for the mini-concert. Should I make a PayPal donation

Thank you for the kind words. I don’t think the PayPal donation is necessary, unless of course you want to put it toward upgrading the video equipment.
