Very nice looking Rudall on e.bay

Here’s a good looking flute but what’s going on with the barrel?

A “non-clumsy” attempt at repair? (i.e., electrical tape?)

Is that what that is, electrical tape? I can’t see it entirely clearly but it looks to be a grenadilla socket replacement on my screen. I could very well be mistaken though, as I can’t blow it up to get a really good look.

It’s wood I think, so a repair. The pads look like nasty silicon. I wonder if the patent head still works.

another ebay basket case

PVC electrical tape…clarinet pads…marks from pliers…looks vaguely familiar but I can’t quite put my mind on it…

Some of us dont need a magnifier to clearly see the problems here, it seems some unhandy person tried there hand at repairing, this is a very common looking Rudall, take a look at the toneholes, very poorly undercut and the shape of the embouchure certainly dosent do anything for me either,
if its a rudall it certainly is not one of their better flutes or anything to be proud of, I would call this one “a handyperson special” if you cant repair it
you can hold on to it untill the weather gets a bit colder.

You can send it to me before you chuck it into the fire…

It is worth it, for the Rudall & Rose accesories! I bet this is the original R&R grease also!

that is cetainly true JonC, but if you are at a good session and you have just that little grease pot ?, well i suppose one could grease the other peoples flutes.

Well, of course, gj, don’t forget he would also have that nice swab stick.

One could always use it to swab other people’s flutes, or if need be, poke someone’s eye out.

Hi,
So the flute has sold to someone in the US, I wonder who got it?

Some poor soal who needs a good pair of glasses, but then againn there are
those odd few who think nobody in that period made a flute as good as RR,
and they will buy one no matter how bursted up it is or how much the seller is asking, they have become addicted to RR flute parts or pieces.

Are we looking at the same item? Ebay claims “The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.”

Terry

The flute was sold outside of ebay, someone in the US made an offer that he couldn’t refuse…

One person’s firewood is another person’s treasure… (and don’t forget the nice accesories…)

not me, not me… :boggle:

Can anybody take up Andrew’s mantle on this one?
