Unknown wind instrument

What type of flute is this? —> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZehl3GsmH8&feature=related (0:00-0:09, then from 1:31 to end).

to me: (noting that the sound has been engineered, I’ve cheap headphones, I’m old & half deaf)
the intro sounds like low whistle
the rest starts with the low whistle
adds a bit of flute
back to low whistle
high whistle/recorders/low whistle/flute/oboe/GOK what all electronics

or it’s all keyboards

The Stronghold CD only lists Robert Euvino as the composer of the CD. It seems that he is primarily a composer that specializes in electronic music technology. So probably keyboard, perhaps a qwerty keyboard.

In an interview with Robert Euvino

Do you play a musical instrument?
My main instrument is the keyboard?piano, organ and synthesizer, and I also play a mean Jews Harp. I can cover a lot of bases with the synthesizers and samplers, but I always incorporate other musicians into my music. Music is about interaction, and if my budget allows for it I try to combine as many talents as I can.

you were watching me poke about after I wrote that…

an’ before I added the last line

Hmmm… Sounds like a recorder to me…

Very heavily processed, but it doesn’t sound synthetic to me. I think it’s low and high whistles but highly compressed. Possibly sampled into a keyboard, but not specifically synthetic. Other than that, the most boring mandolin line I’ve ever heard. Is this a track from a video game?

The low whistle as well as the mandolin sound real to me.
The “recorders” are probably a synthetic flutes from the keyboard, same as the oboe.

Stronghold

That’s the wrong Stronghold :stuck_out_tongue: This is the right one

I was just going to edit that.

The boring mandolin bit sounds to me like a version of “Ride On” (and the synth-whistle solo that follows is a kind of improvisation on it).

Yeah, now that you mention it…
