uh-oh... new obsession...

TRAVERSO!

I’ve been interested in getting one for a long time, and i actually bought a fixed-up romantic-era one-key a few years back to try out – i found it so impossible to play in tune that i just gave up in frustration. But i’ve been listening to quite a bit of Bach and Telemann, and decided to spring for an Aulos Grenser model. It came by Fedex today and OMG what a difference. Almost ridiculously easy to play compared to the one i’ve been struggling with.

I’m totally hooked. Having trouble putting it down. This is a bad thing, i’m looking at what i can sell to buy more.

The Aulos matte-black, which I think is the one you have, IS almost ridiculously easy to play. A wonderful instrument for the price.

That’s the one!

BTW chas, i’m holding you partially responsible for this, due to your Telemann clip. Shame on you.

Chas has been promulgating his subversive traverso ideas around here for years. So far I’m holding out.

Though I must admit, I had a McGee Noe Freres flute come through the shop a while ago that was the most delightful thing in the world. I may have to have Terry whittle me one. Not a Traverso I guess but certainly not an “Irish flute” either…really lovely.
