I have TWO Dixon polymer D tunable whistles that I want to unload; here’s the story. I bought the first one through the Whistle Shop, and it had problems:

  1. C nat is best fingered 0X0000, everything else is way too flat.

  2. The tuning for the entire whistle is only good with the tuning slide pushed all the way in, if pulled out a bit, the whistle suddenly sounds like something from the far east. (Chinese scale)

I told Tony Dixon via E mail about the problem, and to his credit he did send out another whistle, but unfortunately it was worse thant the first one. So I give up. These are not my cup of tea, if any one thinks they can work around the above problems and would like to trade something,(a bosun’s whistle would be nice, but I am open to suggestion), Since the second whistle is so crappy it is sort of a free “bonus” whistle to go with the first one.
