A friend has asked that I source some tunes for her wedding.
She would like solo whistle to bring her down the aisle, and solo whistle her back up again.
any suggestions?
Thanks

The Wedding Reel ![]()
‘The Southwind’ might be nice, or ‘Shephard’s Wife Waltz’. I’m not sure I’d go for jigs or reels.
For some reason Dumbarton’s Drums flashed into my mind. Planxty Fanny Power would be nice too…maybe you could play her out with Carolan’s Concerto.
Eleanor Plunkett is a very pretty tune.
In with “Be Thou My Vision” and out with “Si Beag, Si Mhor”
Great suggestions!
I would add “Planxty George Brabazon” too.
Two great wedding reels pop to mind: Willy Taylor’s “Pearl Wedding Reel” and Emile Benoit’s “Diane’s Happiness”.
Don’t know if either is terribly appropriate for marching up or down an aisle, however.
How about “I Buried My Wife and Danced On Her Grave” or “Old Hag You Have Killed Me”?
Sorry, I couldn’t resist. ![]()

Or She Wears the Britches.
Processional: The Silver Spire
Recessional: An Phis Fliuch
Growling Old Man and Cackling Old Woman?
He gets the last word going in, and she gets the last one going out…
For the walk in, maybe Mairi’s Wedding (not played too fast), or the Sunset might be nice.
For the walk out, I think Fanny Power would be nice.
I would avoid playing too fast–at a wedding it needs to sound stately and serious and needs to call attention to the bride instead of pulling it away from her.
Just my $.02.

Is it “Tabhair Dom Do Lamh” that translates to “Give Me Your Hand”? It’s a pretty piece of music … and possibly appropriate.
