Hi everyone. It’s been a long time since I had a reliable internet conn.
Anyway, I need a not-too-hard, slow, sad song. It is for a possible tongue-in-cheek funeral procession/wake to be held in early October.
If anyone has ideas please let me know.
thanks a lot

Easy to learn.
Also can be used to change the tempo of a session,
start slowly, then speed it up a bit ( or a lot!).

thanks, but I could use a song in the form of a MIDI or a little pic of the sheet music so I can start on it soon.

McGilvrey is Dead, sung to the tune The Irish Washerwoman. You could always sing it slowly.
McGilvrey is dead and his brother don’t know it.
His brother is dead and McGilvrey don’t know it.
They’re both of them dead and they’re in the same bed,
And neither one knows that the other is dead.
How much sadder can you get?

Don Oiche Ud I mBeithil (That night in Bethlehem) has quite a lanent-y feel to it. At least, I think so.

The Song of the Books is a good lament.
You might consider a tune you already know, played as an air. Dunmore Lasses sounds really good slowed way down. So does Star of the County Down.
How about ABC:

I was thinking perhaps the Brian Boru March, since it was (supposedly, anyway) originally written as a funeral march.
