tubing coloring

Are there any good UP makers that don’t have a LONG waiting period that make the metal parts in a silver tone? I really don’t like gold all that much. (Picky, I know…)

Thanks!

Most makers use brass because it is easier to work and can be obtained in ready made tube. Nickel Silver requires you to be able to make up your own tube. Only a few makers seem to have this skill.

There is also a number of makers who use stainless steel whichis OK if you like your pipes to look like they have escaped froma kitchen :stuck_out_tongue:

Best thing is to use the list of makers on NPU and email each one in turn and see what they can do

Bruce Childress is a GOOD maker who offers nickel silver ferrules. His wait time is currently about 12 months which is not very LONG. His website is:

If 12 months is too LONG for you, have a look at the classifieds at the following website (two silver or stainless steel half sets and one silver full set) :

Thank you, John & PJ! I will check those links out.

Also, the metal tubing used for decoration on chanters and drones is often called a “ferrule”.
