TRIVIA QUESTION

My wife has a birthday party coming up this Saturday, and I am creating trivia questions. I remembered something that I read in an old Life Magazine from the early 1960’s in the local public library archives, and was wondering if anyone out there can guess the answer.

Question: What was the Number 1 Christmas present that was given to adult friends and co-workers in the early 1960’s?

Answer: (Check back tomorrow about this time.)

If no one guesses it, I will be providing hints throughout the day.

Will O’Ban

First Hint: Most people had this product in their home even if they personally did not use it.

Will O’Ban

Fruitcake.

Nope.

Cigarettes? Liquor?

No. And, no.

So much for trying to guess the answer from the way the question was worded. It used to work for me in college! Well, not college, but grade school!

Carol

neckties.

Cologne/perfume?
Plastic fruit?
An apron?

Roach clips?

Nope.

Wrong x 3.

Uh. . . no

Second Hint: Some, though not all, were given engraved.

Will O’Ban

cigarette cases?

ashtrays.

lighters?

Flasks?

Darn, you guys are good! I really thought I could keep this thing going until tomorrow, but now the jig is up. Someone got the correct answer, but I’m not going to say who just yet. I want to use the hint that I was saving for last, because I think it’s so darn witty.

Final Hint: Jim Morrison probably had one in his pocket when he died. (Actually, there are two hints here.)

Will O’Ban

The game of Scrabble or Monopoly!

MarkB

or a polyester Nehru Suit

MarkB

2 hints? ok…light my fire, fits in pocket…suggests the lighter may be the answer.
